Beyoncé releases first song ‘Break My Soul’ early from ‘Renaissance’

Beyoncé, it was her sneaky announcement on her social media about release of her first track from ‘Renaissance’ album which is out July 29, she dropped her first single “Break My Soul” on June 20 a few hours earlier than expected and as promised.

The song went up on Tidal, the streaming platform once owned by her husband, Jay-Z, at 10pm ET, early, as it was supposed to drop at midnight on June 21.

Beyonce also released a lyric video of the song.

The track, which will make you want to dance upon listening, samples Robin S.’s 1990 dance hit, “Show Me Love”. Genius also notes that the song  borrows inspiration from the same genre, and features additional vocals from Big Freedia‘s song, “Explode”.

It is her first solo studio album since ‘Lemonade’ in April 2016, in 6 years. There have been other projects, like her single “Black Parade”, which she released in June 2020 in honor of Juneteenth and won her another Grammy for best R&B Performance. With that win, she became with female artist with the most wins in Grammy history.
