Lea Seydoux to star in ‘Dune: Part 2’ as Lady Margot

The actress joins the cast of ‘Dune:Part 2’ in the role of Lady Margot, with fellow franchise newcomers Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken and Austin Butler.

Léa Seydoux joined and to be the latest star in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two, Legendary and Warner Bros. film along with the returning cast members Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson and Javier Bardem.

The film, which resumes where Part One left off, with Paul Atreides (Chalamet) fighting alongside the Fremen to free the desert planet of Arrakis from the grips of House Harkonnen. Seydoux will play the role of Lady Margot Fenring, who in Frank Herbert’s novel is an ally to Paul and his efforts to avenge House Atreides.

Denis Villeneuve is directing the film from a script he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts, and producers are Mary Parent, Villeneuve, Cale Boyter, Tanya Lapointe and Patrick McCormick. Josh Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Kim Herbert, Thomas Tull, Spaihts, Richard P. Rubinstein and John Harrison are the executive producers.

The film shooting will begin this summer in Budapest and Hungary.

Dune grossed $400.6 million at the worldwide box office, earning 10 Academy Award nominations, including for best picture, and winning six Oscars.

Seydoux having her two films premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, Crimes of the Future in which she has most recently seen, and the latest film from David Cronenberg, and will next be in theaters with Mia Hansen-Love’s One Fine Morning. She is repped by France’s Agence Adequat and UTA. Deadline first reported the news.

A previous version misstated that Jon Voight was part of the cast of Dune 2.
