On Monday, Britney Spears took to Instagram to share a few receipts. The pop sensation alleged that she was forced into a mental health facility in 2019 by mom Lynne Spears as she posted screen grabs of her texts to her mom, a friend and her lawyer. Though Britney has since deleted the snaps from her social media. “It’s a little different with proof,” she wrote in her caption.
In her first screen grab, Britney wrote to her mother, via Page Six, “He was saying he wants to UP the seraquil [sic] and I’m like whoaaaaaaa horsey go f–k yourself [sic].” She continued, “Seraquil I thought was a sleep aid but it’s for bipolar and is WAAAAAY Stronger than lithium.” At the moment, it is still unclear if the person being referred to in the texts is Britney’s doctor or her father Jamie Spears who had control over the Gimme More singer’s medical care while he was still her conservator.
Britney went on in her texts, “I literally feel all [sic] the sick medicine in my stomach.” She also wrote, “I feel like he’s trying to kill me. I swear to god I do.” In her caption, Spears clarified that she did not get any response from her mother at the time but later when she got out of the facility, Lynne did reach out. Spears wrote, “Her words were ‘You should have let me visit you and give you a hug.'”
For now, Britney is in a much better place with her conservatorship terminated and her newlywed husband Sam Asghari by her side, the singer seems to be heading towards better days.
